CBGP is a joint research unit comprising 86 permanent staff from INRAE, IRD, CIRAD and Institut Agro Montpellier. Our research focuses on arthropods that affect crops and forests, invasive species and reservoirs of communicable diseases, with implications for food security, biodiversity and global health.

Within the unit, you will lead the administrative team comprising eight staff members and sit on the extended management committee, acting as the link between the unit’s scientific and strategic objectives and the administrative and regulatory framework. Reporting to the Unit Director, you will be responsible for the operational management of the CBGP’s administrative, budgetary and financial activities, human resources and assets. You will work closely with the research support services of the various supervisory bodies and help to coordinate collaborative groups and cross-cutting projects, particularly in the fields of prevention and sustainable development. Your role will be essential in ensuring the smooth running of the unit, supporting the Management in its decision-making and facilitating the work of the research teams.

You will contribute to several research programmes focusing on invasive insect pests, including the spotted wing fruit fly (Drosophila suzukii) and the Asian ladybird (Harmonia axyridis). This research aims to identify the biological and environmental factors that influence their adaptation and population dynamics, with a view to developing sustainable management strategies.

This role will place you at the heart of the experimental set-ups required to generate scientific data. You will help to maintain breeding populations, conduct experiments and characterise a wide range of biological traits, with a view to gaining a better understanding of the evolutionary ecology of these species. You will also contribute to projects aimed at studying the role of certain genes in the expression of traits of interest.
