I was recruited as a scientific data analyst on 1 November 2023 as part of the AFRICAM Senegal project for a period of 16 months. My main task is to supplement the CBGP’s small mammal database with information on the parasites and pathogens hosted by small mammals, with the aim of producing a new database on high-risk zoonotic pathosystems in West Africa.

As part of my contract, I am required to collect data on zoonotic agents (viruses, bacteria, protozoa or eukaryotes) through discussions with CBGP staff and external collaborators who have collected the relevant data, as well as through literature reviews. This compilation of information should enable the extraction of cross-referenced data on « small mammals » x « hosted zoonotic agents », leading to the production of a catalogue of zoonotic hazards—precisely georeferenced and time-stamped—associated with the presence of small mammals carrying pathogens transmissible to humans and/or livestock.
