Co-organiser of the Montpellier Ecology and Evolution Seminars

As an evolutionary geneticist, I aim to better understand the biology, ecology and evolution of insect pests. I mostly study evolution over short time scales in natural populations and genetic conflicts (including their application for the control of natural populations using Wolbachia or gene drives). Hopefully, this knowledge will contribute to reduce pesticide use and to develop alternative strategies for pest control.

Using the invasive pest, Drosophila suzukii, my current projects focus on:

  • the tripartite interaction insect-fruit-microbiota;
  • Wolbachia-induced cytoplasmic incompatibility;
  • characterization and fitness effects of a large chromosomal inversion that segregate in natural populations;
  • experimental adaptation of D. suzukii to different fruits (100+ generations).

 

I am also active in the DrosEU consortium (https://droseu.net).
