Science for all
In addition to its primary missions of research and training, CBGP is involved in raising awareness, popularising and mediating science for the general public (whether novice or interested), around the themes of biodiversity, ecology and evolutionary biology.
We are passionate about helping to improve relations between scientists and society, sharing our passion, transferring our knowledge to the general public and helping to reduce inequalities in access to scientific knowledge and culture.
Raising awareness
Our awareness-raising activities aim to arouse public interest and curiosity about scientific issues, and to help them discover and understand our research themes.
- Hosting and visiting primary school classes at the CBGP (on the fly, during the science festival)
- Discussions with high school students (Declics)
Conferences for the general public in Montpellier and surrounding villages - Participation in awareness-raising events (Carasciences)
- Participation in festivals (Fête des sciences, Fête de la nature)
- Fun workshops designed to discover the scientific process
Outreach
Our outreach activities aim to explain our research to a wide audience in an accessible way. We use a variety of media to present our projects and explain the associated scientific concepts and results.
- Television
- Radio
- Local or national newspapers
- Documentary films
- CBGP Youtube channel
Mediation
Our mediation initiatives aim to actively share our research with everyone, regardless of the age or scientific knowledge of the target audience. These forums enable us to pass on our scientific knowledge, but also create social links with a non-expert audience.
- Youth clubs
- Participative science projects
