Sustainable development

A Sustainable Development collective was set up in early 2022 at CBGP, bringing together around thirty employees.

Based on INRAE’s CSR guidelines and ideas put forward by staff and the unit’s management, we have defined a set of projects and actions to be carried out in the coming years at CBGP, concerning biodiversity, energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, mobility, purchasing, waste, water and digital technology, through our individual practices but also through our research practices.

With the growing awareness of ecological issues, biodiversity research is taking on an important political dimension. We believe that the credibility of our scientific positions in this debate can only be strengthened by our efforts to adopt more ecologically responsible practices.

A number of actions have been taken and/or are still underway, including:

  • introduction of a green charter (in progress);
  • regular awareness-raising campaigns (Green Minutes before seminars, GMs, etc.);
  • assessment of greenhouse gas emissions with the Labos1.5 collective and proposals for reducing the our carbon impact;
  • development of the site to encourage biodiversity;
  • recycling of plastics from 3D printing;
  • improved waste recycling, particularly of all green waste;
  • re-buffering of offices and common areas; optimisation of heating and air conditioning;
  • project to install photovoltaic panels.

The implementation of certain projects benefits from the financial support of the national and local Corporate Social Responsibility Departments of INRAE, and the Région Occitanie.
