Matthias Brand has been recruited as part of the Massif project, funded through the PEPR Forest programme. He is working on WP1, which aims to develop molecular barcode databases and annotated photographs with a view to creating tools to aid identification in the laboratory and within trapping systems.

In particular, he is responsible for the management and traceability of samples, image capture and annotation, and the preservation of specimens and vouchers. He coordinates sample inventories and exchanges with project partners. He assists with specimen identification and verifies the consistency of identifications obtained using various tools (morphology, barcoding, automated image analysis).
