Jules joined the team on 1 December 2024. He is involved in the development and application of inference and prediction methods in population genomics, working closely with the CBGP’s population genomics group.

He brings to this group his expertise in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) methods and tools, particularly deep neural networks. He keeps abreast of developments in this rapidly evolving field in order to design and implement the network architectures best suited to a particular biological problem, both in collaborative projects and in his own research. He also applies his skills in scientific computing, algorithms, optimisation and code parallelisation to develop efficient simulation algorithms capable of generating large quantities of training data.

He will champion the interests of scientific computing and AI at CBGP, liaising with various local and national networks, and will organise training courses and events on AI within the unit.
